No 2020 Voter Fraud – Are We Sure?

Can we set aside politics for a minute and discuss the last election? Not about who won the presidency but about the election process itself. It was a convoluted mess.

First, let’s not simply swallow the idea that the 2020 election “was the most secure in U.S. history.”

That was the conclusion of government and industry officials who are in charge of election security. What do you expect they would say – that they fell down on the job? Highly doubtful. And, their grandiose declaration came just nine days after election day.  Much suspicious information has surfaced since then.

Private citizens presented hundreds of sworn affidavits alleging all sorts of suspicions about fraudulent vote counting, backdating and transporting of ballots and voting machine irregularities in several states. These statements were offered by citizens who swore under penalty of perjury and could be jailed if found to be lying.

White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany appearing on Fox News/Hannity program displaying what she said were more than 230 citizen-eyewitness complaints of voter fraud.
Republicans Offer 230+ Affidavits Claiming Vote Fraud – screengrab

It would be easy to swat away all these complaints by saying they came from supporters of the Republican Party, but that’s too easy. It also leaves us with the conclusion that everyone – from poll watchers to postal workers — is lying as part of a big conspiracy. The problem with complex conspiracies is that they ultimately fall apart because someone steps up and tells the truth.

After all the complaints we’ve heard about the 2020 election wouldn’t you like to know the facts? Shouldn’t citizen claims of fraud against our most sacred system of democracy be taken seriously and be fully investigated? If they are found to be false then the liars can be prosecuted, and the truth about the election will be on the record.

Allegations That Mail In Ballots Were Mishandled (Flickr / G. Witteveen)

Almost as disturbing as all these accusations of wrongdoing is the mainstream media’s automatic scorn for the idea that voter fraud could happen. They might as well run headlines that say, “Shut up. Go Away. The Election was Perfect.” We have known as far back as the 1960 Kennedy-Nixon contest that election outcomes can be fraudulently manipulated.

Why does big media jump on all manner of political gossip and accusations but not this? When the outcome of our most important civic duty is in question much of the media is content to take the lazy way out and proclaim, “There’s nothing to see here. Go back to your homes.”

Shouldn’t we care that some states may have illegally changed the rules on mail-in and absentee ballots under the guise of pandemic protection? Critics passionately believe some of those changes invited fraud and violated state constitutions.

Shouldn’t the nine states that sent out massive numbers of ballots to everyone on their voter registration rolls reconsider that procedure? No consideration was given to whether those voters may have died, moved away or been convicted of a crime and therefore ineligible to vote. All those unclaimed ballots floating in the ether were easy prey for the unscrupulous bent on tipping the outcome.

Nine States Mailed Out Massive Numbers of Unrequested Ballots

A flurry of state and federal lawsuits have been filed citing these various allegations. As I write this some are pending before the U.S. Supreme Court. Many of the suits have already been dismissed but that doesn’t mean the remaining suits lack merit. Attention should be paid until all disputes work their way through the legal system.

If a state’s constitution or the U.S. Constitution is believed to have been violated isn’t it logical to challenge that? If not now, when exactly do we start to question the status quo and investigate whether our voting systems are truly secure? When do states begin to seriously cull out-of-date voter rolls to ensure votes are not cast in the name of non-residents or the dead?

Many will pooh-pooh this saying there are just not that many illegally cast votes and surely not enough to change the outcome of the election.  While that is very likely true in the 2020 race that is beside the point here.

Our election process should be above reproach.  Any election system that includes more than 160 million participants is going to have security problems. We need to acknowledge that. Every citizen who wants free and fair elections should be alarmed at the discombobulated state of our current process. Everyone should want to improve it before the next election.

You definitely wadded into the sludge by suggesting that everyone should know every complaint about this election process and have the complaints investigated before saying the election was clean. Have you ever worked at the polls during an election? If not, you simply can’t understand the process. As a family member said about the recent election—It was run like a military campaign. The procedures are in place and led by a county clerk who has one thing as a goal—honest, fair elections.
Local government affairs are always contentious. If you attend a city council meeting during the public comment session you will hear complaints about everything the city does. If every one of these complaints were thoroughly investigated each city government would have time for little else. The same is true for election procedures.
No, you don’t want to know every complaint about whose neighbor saw what. And there has to be time limits. No yelling about supposed inaccuracies for months. There are systems in place to combat fraud and they work.

Okay, so where does this lead? We’re only now seeing the detrimental effect registered voter list can have on an election. I think it’s high time to purge ALL registered voter lists nationwide to clarify active voters from those no longer qualified to vote in respective jurisdictions.

While some of the normal fraud would not sway the election one way or the other. “But”, with the relaxed rules it makes it almost impossible to detect how much fraud. Hand counting ballots could rule out machine errors but if those ballots are not verified against valid registered voters then recounts are useless. Watching the Wisconsin legislature hearing and one of the people in charge of WEC stated that they don’t have a problem with missing clerks initials because they preprint the initials. Other counties didn’t worry about if the initial was missing because they didn’t want to penalize the voter because the clerk forgot to initial. All these little things are there to help discourage fraud. If I’m mass producing a bunch of envelopes and ballots the time to duplicate initials or tell take that they were printed with a machine will help them to be spotted. If you’re ignoring them or preprinting them yourself then what?

Actually, John, there are a lot of people who are saying THERE IS NO VOTER FRAUD. PERIOD. STOP SAYING ‘VOTER FRAUD’. ITS NON-EXISTANT!! And they are saying it in such loud (and sometimes ugly) terms that there is really no way to rationally discuss the subject with them.

In a nation where nearly 67% of eligible voters voted — some 160 million people, early estimates say — there is no statistically sound way to assert that there was NO voting fraud – either by human mistake or intention. Couple that with the woman who said she checked the rolls in her state and her dead son was counted as having voted. Or the postal worker who swears to mishandling of ballots. Counties where there were more votes cast than registered voters. Untold numbers of mailed out ballots floating around. There are serious questions about voting machines and whether they might have been hooked up to the internet (inviting outside hacking) And the list goes on and on.

The fallback position seems to be “well, there weren’t enough questionable votes to change the election.” I accept that – but the reality is there should be NO questionalbe/fraudlent ballots case. States need to clean up bloated voter rolls, political parties need to stop their shenanigans and most importantly, to my mind, the whole mess needs to be investigated and indictments/prosecutions need to be carried out where illegalities have occured.

To those who don’t believe there was voter fraud, I ask 2 questions. Have you ever received a neighbor’s mail or package at YOUR address? Have you ever received mail for previous tenants? Has a deceased family member continued to receive mail? Have you ever mailed something that never arrived? Have you ever ordered an item (tv, internet, etc.) and it never arrived? Answered yes to any of the above? Then you know voter fraud exists. Mail, in general, is a service fraught with vulnerability. If we do not fix this, then we are no better than a banana republic.
